Simone Biles says 2028 Los Angeles Olympics would be ‘greedy’

Fans may have already witnessed Simone Biles the last dance.

Bile dominated Olympics-2024 in Paris over the summer, winning three gold medals and one silver medal to become the most decorated US gymnast in Olympic history.

But fans hoping to see her compete in what could be her last Olympics when the Games return to America in 2028 may be disappointed to learn that Biles has no plans to compete.

Talking to Sports Illustrated after being named the 2024 Athlete of the Year, Biles said she thinks returning to the Games after such success makes her “hungry”.

“When you go back, you will be greedy. Such are the consequences. But this is also your decision,” she said in an interview. “What sacrifices will I make if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like prom, college. Now it’s like starting a family, being away from your husband. What’s really worth it?”

Biles is married Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. The couple tied the knot in April 2023 and have been photographed supporting each other at their respective events ever since.

In March 2024, Owens signed a two-year contract with the Bears after spending one season with the Green Bay Packers. He was suspended from the start of training camp this summer to support his wife as she made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As Biles moves on to the next chapter of her life, she told Sports Illustrated that returning to the Olympic stage in 2028 will be a tough option.

“I’ve accomplished so much that there’s almost nothing left to do but just be a snob and try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to quit.”
