Jennifer Lopez opened about how the news broke about his divorce from Ben Affleck With his twins, Emme and Max.
“I had a very difficult year. Things happened. And so I read a lot of books. I did a lot of self-interference,” said the singer, 55, in an interview with The country Published on Wednesday, May 7. “I meditated. I prayed a lot. I wanted to improve my relationship with God. I wanted to solidify the family unit of me and my two children, my twins.”
Lopez shares Emme and Max, both at 17, with ex-husband Anthony mark. When Lopez eventually filed for a divorce of Affleck, 52, in August 2024 he sat down with her children to talk about the changing dynamics in their family.
“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them to them and I did it, ”he explained. “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

Lopez added that she made a lot of effort to focus on her improvement and the welfare of her family.
“I read lots of books on childhood, marriage, relationships, different styles of love, brain, science… and over the years, I’ve done individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy. I’ve had everything, I’ve always been a kind of search,” he remembered. “I think it’s about learning about yourself. It’s about knowing yourself. You have to be prepared for that. And you have to want it. And, even when you want it, it’s hard to change some things. But you can.”
Lopez learned that while everyone is experiencing rough pieces, the real lessons in life come from how a person persevered.
“Everyone goes through hard times in their lives. And that’s what you do in those moments that really define you,” he reflected. “Not the relationship, not the man: what defines you is what you do with the experiences you face. I take those experiences – whether they are good or bad – and I’m bound.”
Now Lopez is “happier” with how far she has come from having hard conversations with her children.
“I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud to have been able to navigate my children through difficult times, they are stronger and better because of it,” he said, explaining that she is ready to go back on a journey. “So it’s a great time to get out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everyone.”
When Lopez and Affleck first started marital problems, the singer canceled her Here I am alive journey to focus on her family. Now Lopez finds himself in better space and is ready to see her fans again.
“Just when we’re going to celebrate I want to go on a tour,” he teased. “We’re going to have a good time.”
Lopez and Affleck complete their divorce Earlier this year, with a judge signing on the paperwork in February.
