Trump strongly replied “no” when asked in the White House, whether he was open to get distracted by steep import duties to get to China to the negotiating table.
Trump’s commitment to his tariffs took place three days before US Finance Minister Scott Handeer had to meet with his Chinese counterpart in Switzerland to discuss trade and economic issues.
Earlier, China stated that the United States demanded a meeting and that Beijing remained “firm” against Trump’s campaigns.
