Kody Brown doesn’t think church is a “safe place” for him after going through three divorces – but he’s no fan of a woman either Robyn Brown attend solo, either.
“When I met Kody, he was very involved in our church and from my understanding he was happy in our church,” said Robyn, 46, during the Sunday, December 15, episode of Sister Wivesreflecting on the couple’s position within their church congregation. “I mean, I probably wouldn’t have considered marrying him if I didn’t think he was.”
Robyn, Kody’s fourth wife, explained when their family went public their polygamist lifestyle things changed for her husband, 55.
“I think really, the way our church really responded to that, kind of, throw it awayand it just made him feel like, ‘Wait, what the heck?’” he recalled.
Kody agreed, telling the cameras, “I found that my faith was starting to contradict the religious attitudes, the gatekeepers.” He added that once the church started telling him to cut his hair or behave in a certain way, he was turned off.
After splitting from wives Christine, Janellea Mary Brown in 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively, Kody’s distance from the church only grew. Robyn, however, told her husband on Sunday’s episode that she wanted to go back.
“I want to come sooner or later,” Kody said to Robyn, who said a their eldest daughters want to try new places of worship.
Kody then teased, “Well, you don’t want to go too long without me, because I don’t want some guy thinking that you single mother.”
The patriarch explained to viewers that “there are a lot of men interested in Robyn,” who “was kind of trying to get around me and so on.” The situation, he admitted, worries him.
“Because the first time I saw you at our church, we made that look, that connection,” Kody recalled to Robyn, who teased that she was the one who made the look.

Kody insisted, “Oh, no, no, no, no. I looked longer. By the time you looked away, I actually said, ‘I guess that’s inappropriate. She’s probably married.’”
He had a big smile on his face before asking Robyn to tell what it was like to see him in church more than a decade ago. “I want to know that God has been my wing with you and that no one can take you away,” Kody said.
Robyn also summed up their connection, saying, “I was sitting there with my cousin. I was looking around. I looked at you for a while.”

She remembered seeing Kody’s “laugh lines”, because I love laugh lines. And then you looked at me in a bolt of lightning strikes for my body.”
Robyn later told the cameras that although she first saw Kody at church, it wasn’t until a month later that she “randomly” met him and his first wife Meri, 53, on their lawn.
Kody and Robyn ended their conversation with Kody saying that she doesn’t want “some guy” to catch her “gaze” while she worships in his absence. “I’m babysitting a friend now,” Kody said. “I protect the pride.”
Robyn assured her husband that she would wear her wedding ring and told everyone that she was off the market.
