Thirteen miners were found dead in a mine in Peru after a few days earlier.
They worked in a gold mine, owned by the Peruvian mining company Poderosa, located in Potaz, north of the Lima capital.
The victims were sent to resist a group of people who participated in illegal mining in the area, but were abducted by a criminal gang tried to control the mine.
The gang kept them hostage in mine. During the week, they sent threatening reports from miners’ relatives.
Over the past few years, there has been a surge in the crimes attacking mines.
On Friday, the company operating 8,000 – released a statement saying that the police did not do enough to prevent illegal mining.
“The climate of violence continues to increase in the region,” the company said.
The Peruvian Diario Correo news site reported that the video distributed in the social media allegedly recorded by the invaders themselves showed that the miners were executed at the point.
It is unclear that they pushed them to kill the group.
Since 2020, illegal mining has taken several mining, which conducted the Paderos, forcing them to abandon some operations and “at risk of physical security of our employees and artisanal miners,” the company said.
In March, criminals working with illegal miners near the Yar La Synago area attacked the contractors at the mine, killed by two people.
In the same month, the company also stated that illegal miners blew up high tension, providing power on the miners and tried to “invade” several mine sites. Paderos said the police and the army could not take control and urged the government to resume order.
The company said illegal mining and organized crime were able to work with “absolute impunity”.
Peru is one of the world’s largest producers of gold, which produces more than 100 tons a year – or about 4% of the annual supplies around the world.
