Crowds flock to a free beach concert in Brazil

Big crowds gathered in Rio -Derae for free Lady Gaga concert from the start on Saturday night at the Kopakaban beach.

Brazilian authorities say 1.6 million people expect to attend the event.

The concert pays the city in an attempt to revive the Rio economy, and they expect it to bring a local economy of $ 100 million (75 million pounds).

Saturday’s performance is part of an advertising tour for the eighth album Lady Gaga Mayhem, whose songs include Abracadabra and Die with a smile.

Some fans – known as “Little Monsters” Gagi – started turn early in the morning and wait for long lines to access the beach.

A large -scale security operation is hired, with 5,000 police officers and participants must go through metal detectors. Authorities also use drones and personality recognition cameras to help police event.

Lady Gaga is not the first person playing a free concert in Rio. Madonna performed with a concert at Kopakabana beach in May 2024, which also paid the city.

Many people traveled from all over the country to see the concert.

One man, 28-year-old Luan Messiah, said he had spent the whole evening on the bus from Itanm in the nearby state of Sao Paul.

“I can’t wait when she sings Abracadabra, it’s great to dance, like her early things,” he said.

22 -year -old Alisha Duarte told AFP, which started standing in line at 0740 in the morning. “Lady Gaga is worth it! It will be very crowded, but we will survive,” she said.

Another fan, Pavel Oliveira, explained why people were so excited about the concert. She “tells us that we can be the one we can, that we can be different and what is different,” he said.

It will be an “unforgettable show”, – said the Lai Borges concert. “It will be emotionally and I cry a lot,” she said.
