Saquon Barkley fires on Giants after rushing for 2,000 yards in new ad

Ahead of St Philadelphia EaglesIn the season finale against the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley may be trolling his old team with his new ad.

Barkley, who played six seasons with the G-Men before joining the Eagles starred in a commercial for Unisom, a sleep aid, last offseason.

But the ad carried a cryptic message that may or may not have been directed at Giants owner John Marr, who infamously said he’s “going to have a hard time sleeping when Saquon goes to Philly.”

“I heard some of you are having trouble sleeping, so I wrote you a lullaby,” Barkley said in the ad. “Rock it baby, wake up in your bed with the thought of 2000 clubs running through your head. It must be hard to lose sleep over football – but not for me. Good night everyone.”

Well, that’s exactly what happened, and Barkley is putting up historic numbers with the Birds.

The giants were shown on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” offseason, and Mara made the sensational announcement in a conversation with general manager Joe Schoen, who never seemed overly interested in keeping Barkley, who was drafted second overall by his predecessor, Dave Gettleman, in 2018.

Barkley will be rested before the playoffs in Week 18, leaving him 101 yards short of the NFL’s single-season rushing record and sparing the Giants another embarrassment. But he surpassed the 2,000-yard mark after rushing for 167 yards on Sunday, becoming the ninth player to do so.

Barkley admitted there’s a part of him that wants to break the record, but he says he has a bigger goal in mind.

“He asked me if I wanted to play, if I wanted to go for it. On Sunday, I probably didn’t care too much about it,” Barkley said this week. “When I was dreaming about it, it seemed to me that it was an opportunity to write my name in the history of football. I may never get this opportunity again.

“So I’m not able to. But at the end of the day, I don’t want to put the team at risk.”

Instead, he finishes with 2,005 yards.
