For the first time in almost three decades, someone, except Gregga Popovich, will become the head coach of “San -Anthony”.
On Friday, the NBA Franchise announced the promotion of Mitch Johnson’s head coach.
The decision came shortly after confirmed Popovich would refuse His main coaching responsibilities and the transition to the staff of the team basketball operations.
Popovich has led the Basketball Operations “Spurs” since 1994, equalizing its executive role and a coaching role for 29 years.

“Although my love and admiration for the game remain, I decided that it was time to get away as the head coach,” Popovich said in a statement on Friday afternoon. “I am forever grateful to the wonderful players, coaches, employees and fans who allowed me to serve them as head coach, and I am excited about the opportunity to continue to support the organization, community and city that are so significant.”

Johnson will be officially introduced on Monday to San -Anthony.
“When I took the opportunity to join Austin Spurov more than nine years ago, I did not imagine that the opportunity before me,” Johnson said at the end of the regular season. “And, sometimes ridiculous as your journey leads you, and sometimes the biggest points can come from the least likely places.”

“We are delighted with Mitch Johnson to become our next head coach,” said the head of the Spurs’ partner Peter J. Holt. “Throughout the decade, we saw that Mitch has the right values, balance and potential to bring us to the future.”

“I trust the organization … And I also trust the Mitch to grow into this role,” said Uembanyama. “So, I think we’re in good hands.”
Johnson played Stanford as a four -year starter before playing the G and in Europe.
“I am honestly grateful and have the honor to get this incredible opportunity,” Johnson said. “I am grateful for the POP, RC, Brian and Peter coach, who trust me to continue my culture, and I promise to give this responsibility all I have to make the spurs proud.”
