Star of a verdict Noel Johansen married to Jen Darbellay till her sudden death at the age of 50.
Darbellay was one of the 11 people killed in the tragedy of the Lapu-Lapu Vancouver Festival in April 2025. The couple attended the incident together, which celebrated a Lapu-Lapu Datu Datu figure, when a SUV man drove through the crowd.
“What you see here is an injury that means nothing to me because what’s inside my heart is broken,” said Johansen, using crutches, During a candle light vigil held days later. “Because my wife died behind me at the event.”
She added, “She never celebrated herself in her life. She never thought of herself; she thought of herself so small in terms of reach.”

While Johansen and Darbellay kept much of their relationship private, she was particularly supportive of her acting career.

Darbellay shared a rare selfie with Johansen to celebrate their birthday.
“ -Happy birthday to this guy,” he wrote through Instagramnoting that they have been together for “many years.”
Darbellay also included hashtags for “Makes Me Laugh,” “Makes Me Nuts,” “active artist,” “dancing until my feet hurt” and “we have the best friends.”

The family of four Lapu-Lapu festivals in Vancouver attended, where Johansen and Darcy were both injured when plowing a car through the crowd. Meanwhile, Darbellay was among the 11 who died.
“It was more than life for any of you who know her,” Johansen remembered during a vigil held for the victims. “So don’t be small in life, be big, reaching out and reaching out like a human being with everything you have, and remember us who went through this.”
The Gofundme campaign set up by a family friend noted that the actor was guiding “an incredibly difficult time” in the aftermath of Darbellay’s death.
“Moving on with his life is going to feel irresistible,” read a fundraiser description. “I know his work will undoubtedly be affected, and I and his family would like to be supported during this time. There will be a lot of costs, including Airfare for a close family, food, childcare, counseling, funerary expenses, etc. Jen was a single-mark mother. Wife.”
