Tiktta was fined 530 million euros (601.3 million dollars) by the Ireland privacy regulator for sending users to China.
The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) – which maintains the EU’s Tiktok Privacy for Tiktok – said on Friday that Tiktok violated the GDPR BLOC data protection law on European users’ data transfer to China.
The regulator ordered Tiktok to bring its data processing for six months and stated to suspend the transfer of the Tictak to China if the processing is not aligned in this term.
“Tiktok’s personal data transfer to China has broken GDPR because Tiktok was unable to check, guarantee and demonstrate that the personal data of the CES user, which was remotely addressed by employees in China, was granted the level of protection, essentially equivalent to what is guaranteed to the EU,” Grem Doyle, Deputy Commissioner.
“As a result of the inability of the scoring, the ticks did not address the potential access of the Chinese authorities to personal data on the CES within the framework of Chinese anti-terrorist, struggle and other laws, defined by the EU’s standards,” he added.
