Enzo Maresca greeted a “perfect night” for Chelsea after beating Djurgarden 4-1 in the semifinal of the conference league, but he had a warning for his players despite his comfortable advantage.
Chelsea is a great favorite to win the third -level European football competition and took another step towards the final in Wroclaw with an emphatic victory in Stockholm.
After absorbing some early pressure, Chelsea was in the 12th minute when Jadon Sancho took advantage of the bad defense, collecting the smart pass by Enzo Fernandez and seeing his effort diverted by Marcus Danielson.
Noni Madueke shot in a second work two two minutes before half the time, and Nicolas Jackson later put Chelsea on the full control in the second half.
First, he struck a combination between Danielson and goalkeeper Jacob Rinne to roll the ball in an empty net, before the Senegal striker made 4-0 with a sublime strike on the right-hand corner from the edge of the area.
Isak Alemayehu retired to Djurgarden with a good near-range head, and after seeing Chelsea won 3-0 in the first stage of the quarter of the final home only to lose at Stamford Bridge in Legia Warsaw in the second, Maresca is not taken for next week’s return.
“It was the perfect night. The semifinals, important and it is a good result,” Maresca told TNT Sports.
“But we already have the Warsaw Game experience where we won 3-0 there and then at home we struggled a little, so we have to focus on the second stage.
“For an hour, 70 minutes, the performance was good, and in the last 20 minutes we went down a little. Now we have to finish the work at home.”
In the other semifinal, Real Betis defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in Seville. Abde Ezzalzouli and Antony gave Betis command, before Luca Ranieri retired to the A series A to give the hopes for the second stage in Florence.
Chelsea is also in a busy race for the champion league rating to the Premier League, with the Liverpool champion near the Maresca men at Stamford Bridge.
“We now have a game in three days,” Maresca added. “We will arrive in London at five in the morning and have a game Sunday, so we have to regain energy.”
