Technically, this struggle is a combat of unification for all marbles, each main title of the alphabet, the Ring magazine championship and a legitimate claim of the lineage. Actually, however, this is more technical. Canelo was already the undisputed king in 168, and never lost IBF belt in the ring. Canelo was stripped by the Belt IBF and Scull later won the vacant belt when he won a unanimous decision against Vladimir Shishkin last October.
IBF has the habit of ruining indisputable reigning. They did the same thing in Terence Crawford shortly after it became the first world champion of heavy heavyweight in the modern age of 4 belts, and also pressed Oleksandr Usyk to the point that he left the IBF belt on heavy weight shortly after it became the first indisputable in this division during the modern 4 belt -era. Beating Scull can twice cause to be indisputable in 168, but Canel is still the king of division in the fight against Scull.
