Jason Priestley had different responses to the deaths of his Beverly Hills, 90210 Costars, Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty.
“I’m in the reception part (of grief) with both of them. Obviously, Luke’s passing was much more shocking than Shannen ones,” Priestley, 55, said in the mid 90210 aum Jennie Garth On Tuesday, April 29, an episode of “I choose me” podcast. “While Shannon was sick… I had a chance to spend time with her. I made sure I said all the things I wanted to tell her.”

While Priestley came to terms with the death of Doherty, he admitted he had the other Perry experience. (In March 2019, Perry he died unexpectedly at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke.)
“Luke’s passing was so shocking and just came out of the blue, as it took me a lot more time to reconcile that and what that meant,” Priestley shared. “Unfortunately for myself, I’ve lost a couple of other close friends to me … in my adult years. So, unfortunately, I’m starting to become pretty good for saying goodbye to my friends.”
Then Garth, 53, asked Priestley remembering how he learned about Perry’s death. The actor reminded her that she was the one who told him.
“I was in the kitchen in my house, and the phone rang. It was you, and I said, ‘Hey, Jennie, what’s happening?’” Priestley called her asking for Perry.
“And I was like, ‘No.’ Then you told me what was happening and where it was and what was happening, ”he continued. “And you said, ‘I’m going to call back when I know more.’ I felt you were kind of the focus of the information.
Garth admitted that she did not remember that the person who told Priestley.
“I was in hospital trying to get in to see him, but they wouldn’t let anyone come in. And they told me that he wasn’t even there, but I knew it was,” he reflected. “I can’t believe I forgot that I was called, like, that’s blocked to me.”
Priestley told Garth it is not surprising that she did not remember, as he was Emotional experience for them all.
“You were in shock like the rest of us,” he said. “That was difficult; that was difficult. That day – those few days were not fun for anyone.”
Garth added that since all 90210 The cast has such a deep connection when tragedy strikes, it affects them harder than others.
“There is this bond that (lasts) not only until our last breath, but until the end of time,” he explained. “I feel we are intertwined and connected at such a level until I come into that conversation when something bad happens to you. When something bad happens to me, Brill (Austin Green) comes into that conversation. Like, we’re all so connected in this wild way. “
Priestley added that he was so grateful to get his costars as his “extended family,” since he was brought up in a small home. Garth, after losing Doherty and Perry, shared that none take their friendship for “.”
“I think maybe before we lose Luke, it may be a little easier for us not to think about that so much,” he said. “But now she’s just in front of my mind all the time, how grateful I had all of you and had this shared experience that I could never forget and people will never forget.”
