Dolly Parton says she’s “ready to diet” after eating all she wanted over the holidays


Dolly Parton don’t stress too much when it comes to enjoying your vacations.

In an interview with Closer Magazine, the “Jolene” singer shared some of her family’s favorite holiday traditions. When it comes to overindulging during the holidays, Parton said she and her family don’t worry about it.

“We all start eating around Thanksgiving, and we eat until the first of January, and then we all go on a diet. Do you know how that happens?’ she said exit, according to Daily Mail. “So you think, ‘Well, now I’m not even going to think about dieting.’ I’ll just eat whatever I want.’

Although “you stretch your clothes” while enjoying all the good holiday food, Parton explained that she doesn’t mind because she knows she’ll be “ready to diet after the first of the year.”

The singer went on to say that she goes “full on” with her family at Christmas, sharing that each generation of children has different nicknames for her, including “Grandma Claus, Dolly Claus or Gigi Claus.”

“I’ve been doing it since I had my younger siblings,” she said. “Now they’ve had kids and now their kids are having kids, so I’ve been doing this for years. Christmas is a big thing for us.’

Part of their extended family a Christmas tradition it’s a big celebration that Parton is preparing for her and her extended family.

“So you think, ‘Well, now I’m not even going to think about dieting.’ I’ll just eat whatever I want.’

With dinner, Parton serves a wine from her own label, which she notes is “great because it goes with so many different things.”

“We have turkey and ham and black-eyed peas and cornbread dressing, and then we have a lot of mashed potatoes and coleslaw and things like that,” she said of the big feast she prepares.

Besides the meal, another big part of Parton’s Christmas celebration is when she and her family gather around the piano and sing classic Christmas carols like “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Silent Night” together.

Earlier this year, Parton expressed interest in spending Thanksgiving with the royal family and inviting them to Dollywood is on holiday..

“Oh I really wish they would come to Dollywood, that would be fantastic!” she said to Bleezer. “The kids could ride all the rides and we would treat them like royalty! I would give Kate my mashed potatoes – I wouldn’t praise them. I would just let them enjoy what we like and I’m sure that’s how they would want me to want to have these kids in Dollywood.”

The legendary country singer previously missed her chance to meet with Princess of Wales in 2023, when a scheduling conflict prevented her from accepting an invitation from Middleton to join her at Buckingham Palace for tea.
