Iran’s Interior Minister said that negligence became a factor in a large -scale blast and a fire in the country’s largest port, since at least 70 had increased.
Escandar Momeni said the blast on Saturday at the port of Shahida Raja in Bandar Abbas, which also suffered more than 1000 people, was caused by “deficiencies, including failure to comply with precautionary and negligence.”
“Some persons who considered responsible” were summoned for questioning, he added.
The customs authorities said the imported cargo caught fire and exploded. The Ministry of Defense has denied foreign reports that this is the shipment of missile fuel.
The director of the crisis management in Hormazgan Mehrdad Hassanzade also said on Monday that the efforts of the fire fight in the port “almost in the last stages”.
Governor Garmazan Mohammad Ashar Tosyani, meanwhile, stated that clearing operations at the port could continue for a few more days, and that this may take one or two weeks before the situation there comes to normal.
He estimated that 1500 hectares (3,700 hectares) – nearly two -thirds – hit the blast.
The customs service administration stated that the cargo and exploded was not registered and officially announced to the incident, the ISNA news agency reports.
On Sunday, the CEO of the firm, which managed the victim, the company Sina Marine and Port Services Development, accused “a re -and catastrophic error associated with false declarations of dangerous goods.”
Iran’s Defense Ministry denied reports that the blast was caused by improper processing of sodium perchlororate shipment, which is used for ballistic missiles.
Brig Brig Reza Tala Nick spokesman said there was “there is no import and export of fuel and cargo for military use in the immediate vicinity of the incident” and accused foreign media of “fake news”.
Last month, Ambrey Intelligence, a private maritime risk advice, said the port was received by sodium perchlarata last month and that the blast was reportedly the result of the wrong handling. “
The New York Times also referred to an unnamed person related to Iran’s revolutionary guards, which, according to sodium, exploded.
