Secretary of State Mark Rubio denied the statement that three minor US citizens, all up to ten years old – and one with a stage IV cancer, were deported without the proper process, calling the allegations “misleading”.
The Washington Post reports that three American citizens from two different families aged, four and seven were deported with their mother from the Louisiana facility on Friday. The report states that the four-year-old child suffers from Rak-4 and that the mother was unable to contact doctors, the family’s lawyer reports. Rubio pushed away from the claims that the children had been deported, instead claiming that the mothers of children who were not legally in the country decided to bring children with them.
“This is misleading the headline. Three US citizens, aged 4, 7 and 2, were not deported. Their mothers were legally deported and the children went with their mothers. They could return to their father or the person who wants to assume. Ultimately, they were the mothers who were illegal here.” Rubio said.
