Jay-z and Kanye West At one time one of the most dynamic duets in hip-hop, cooperating behind the scenes and trading raps on singles and their co-operative album, 2011’s Watch the throne.
Since their peak, however, both appear to have fallen out-and their steady flow of collabs at the top of the chart has dried.

2000
Jay-Z West, who was then an upcoming producer, enrolled for his fifth studio album, The lineage: la Familia rock. He marked the beginning of a fruitful artistic relationship, long years, with West returning for 2001’s The blueprint and produce hits like “Izzo (Hova)” and “Takeover” (and contribute unbelieved voices on “Never Change”). West went on to contribute to many Jay-Z albums, including 2006’s Kingdom comes and 2009’s The blueprint 3.

2004
West released his first solo album, Drop the collegeAnd Jay-Z contributed a guest verse on the track “Never Let Me Down.” In the Grammys the following year, West took the Grammy home for the best rap album (but a lost album of the year).
2005
The West made headlines when he claimed on live TV which at the time was President George W. Bush “Don’t worry about black people” during Hurricane Katrina Telethon. Many years later, Jay-Z said he had no problem with his friend’s comments.
“I made 100 percent agreed with the comments he made, because again… he felt like he was being done to black people,” he told the Associated Press in 2010. “Like, all you saw on the news were black people with support signs and all these things, and then you have this picture of the commander, we all depend on it, just like that? Orleans, would the response (have been) so slow? ”
2010
West released his fifth studio album, my Beautiful dark twisted fantasy. Jay-Z appeared on two tracks, including the Smash Hit “Monster” (who introduced much of the world to a young rapper called Nicki Minaj). Jay-Z’s wife, BeyoncéAlso seen on a bonus track called “See Me Now.” The album won the best rap album in the Grammys in 2012.
While many critics consider Mbdtf To be one of West’s best albums, he tweeted in 2025 that he hated him and “made out of fear.”
2011
The duo released their first and only album co -operative album, Watch the thronewhich included the popular singles “Otis” and “n **** s in Paris.” In the video “Otis”, they defined the goals of friendship as they danced together in front of a single cover art inspired by an American flag designed by Fashion Great Riccardo tisci.
Weeks after the album dropped, Beyoncé announced her pregnancy (with Blue Ivy) on stage at the MTV video music awards, filmed West in Grinning and put Jay-Z’s playful shoulder slaps as they look forward to the audience.
2012
The pair joined Great sean For the song “Clique,” which appeared on West’s Cruel summer CONFERENCE ALBUM. The duo also wrapped their European clause Watch the throne A trip, where they performed famously “N **** s in Paris” several times in a row. They set the record in Paris, playing it 11 times in a row.
2014
West contributed a guest verse to the official remix “Drunk in Love”, which appeared on Beyoncé’s 2013 self-title album. Later that year, however, weeks after their famous elevator event with Solange knowles and reported marital problems, Jay-Z and Beyoncé waived West’s wedding to Kim Kardashian in Italy.
Later, West said he “hurt” that they didn’t attend. “I understand that they go through certain things but if it’s a family, you’re not going to miss a marriage,” he said GOD’S GALLAMAGNE During an interview in 2018 on The breakfast club. “I don’t use this interview to put out any negative things, but I note my truth. 2015
When Jay-Z set up his tidal streaming service, West was by his side at a press conference presenting the other founders (also including Beyoncé, Rihanna. Mad and much more) behind the app. Two years later, West left the app after claiming that Tidal had money for him for marketing efforts. Meanwhile, Tidal claimed that West had not introduced assets he promised to the company.
2016
During Sacramento’s stop Saint Pablo’s journeyWest went on rant 15 minutes where he said he “hurts” Beyoncé and Jay-Z didn’t advocate him to win a video of the year in the VMA Taylor Swift In 2009 to claim “Single Ladies (putting on it)” Beyoncé deserved the best female video win.
“I’ve been sitting here to give you true even at risk of my own life,” he said, in part. “Even in danger of my own success, my own career. I’ve been sitting here to give you the truth. Jay-Z, call me, Bruh. You don’t still call me.”
2017
Jay-Z addressed West in an interview with The New York Timessaying that there is still a “authentic love” despite the tension. “In the long relationship, you know, hopefully, when we’re 89 we’re looking at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that,” he said. “There are complications in the relationship we have to go through. And the only way to go through that is that we sit down and get dialogue and say, ‘These are the things I am uncomfortable with. These are the things that are unacceptable to me. This is what I feel.’ I’m sure he felt I did things for him too.
In a separate interview, the rapper “99 problems” addressed words on the 4:44 Track “Kill Jay Z” referred to the west. “It’s not even about Kanye, it’s not really,” he said during an interview on the “Rap Radar” podcast. “His name is there, just because just the truth of what happened. But the whole point is, ‘You hurt because this person was talking about you on stage.’ But what really hurt me, you can’t bring my children and wife into it.

The Deos for “Prison,” reunited their first cooperation in years, which appeared on the 10th of West album, Wound. The track took the trophy home for the best rap song in the 2022 Grammys.
2025
In a series of tweets removed since then, West made offensive comments about Jay-Z twins and Beyoncé, Rumi and Sir. While later apologized for his comments, he said he felt that Jay-Z and Beyoncé should have done more for him during his split of Kardashian. “They could have used their cultural position to not only watch the Kardashians running me over,” he wrote. “S *** hurts… So f *** they both cause when I needed them it was f *** me.”
He also claimed that he and Jay-Z argued for his support for Trump, mentioned in the words “prison”. “Why Jay Z had to say ‘No Red Hat’ on prison,” wrote West through X. “That ripped me to my soul. We fought for it and told me to either leave that line on there or take off my verse. I wearing the red hat was the biggest example standing out of me going against ‘the program.’ Do you think he was instructed to say that? ”
Jay-Z did not respond to West’s comments.
