State of Arizona gave Texas was all he could handle in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday, forcing two extra periods before the Longhorns finally came up with a game-winning play to win 39-31.
Texas defensive end Andrew Mukuba made a goal-line interception from Arizona quarterback Sam Leavitt on the final play. Mukuba was looking to tie the score and make it a third overtime after the Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers threw a touchdown pass on the first play of the second overtime with a successful two-point conversion.

The interception helped prevent the biggest upset of the new CFP format and what could have been one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
No. 3-ranked Texas entered the game as a 13.5-point favorite. But the No. 12 Sun Devils never trailed, as running back Cam Scateba had 143 yards rushing with two touchdowns and 99 receiving yards to lead a near-cluttering effort.

But Ewers kept the Longhorns in check, throwing for 322 yards with three touchdowns and wide receiver Matthew Golden had 149 yards with a touchdown.
Golden’s touchdown came on a critical 4th-and-13 play in the first overtime when Texas was one moment away from elimination. Golden got open in the middle of the field and took a pass from Juvers to force a second overtime and give the Longhorns a chance to avoid a historic upset.
