The 2025 Sugar Bowl game between Notre Dame and Georgia will be played less than 24 hours later than its original start time after Wednesday deadly attack in New Orleans caused the postponement of the game.
Allstate Sugar shop on Wednesday afternoon officially announced that the game will begin on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. local time (4:00 a.m. ET). The game was originally due to kick off at 20:45 ET on Wednesday night and it was previously reported that the game would be postponed by 24 hours.

Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley released a statement offering his thoughts and prayers to all victims of the attack, as well as thanking those who accommodated the new start time.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families as we work through this,” said Jeff Hundley, chief executive officer of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. “We have full faith and trust in the governor and mayor, as well as all the federal, state and local emergency responders they brought to this horrific event. Whenever we have an event like the Sugar Bowl, public safety is paramount, and all stakeholders agree that this can only be done with a delay. We will now move forward to take care of the details to make the Sugar Bowl a first class, fun and safe event. more than 90 years.”

The death toll from the Bourbon Street attack has risen to 15, Fox News reports.
The postponement of the game amid the offense was the subject of online debate among fans and pundits on Wednesday. Some fans agreed with the decision to postpone the game, while others expressed outrage, believing it allowed the striker “to win.”
The postponement followed reports that the Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, was initially closed for security checks and that people with offices in the stadium were told not to enter the grounds until further notice.
The Superdome is just a mile from the site of Wednesday morning’s deadly attack.
Georgia and Notre Dame arrived in New Orleans on Sunday and reportedly stayed at hotels a few blocks from the crime scene. According to reports, a “shelter” for the teams has been set up at both schools.
Several airlines have issued travel advisories their customers on Wednesday about possible travel delays related to the recent attack on Bourbon Street. Delta said service at New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY) “may be affected” by the ongoing investigation into the attack.
“Due to the security situation in New Orleans, Louisiana, travel to, from or through the destinations listed below may be restricted,” MSY said in a statement.
Delta said the consultation will continue until January 3 for now. The rebooked flights will be rescheduled for January 6, the company said.

Southwest issued a similar message to its customers as did United.
“Due to the events that took place in New Orleans in the early hours of January 1, 2025, we are offering increased flexibility for Customers booking travel from or through New Orleans, LA (MSY) between January 1 and January 3, 2025 . ” Said the Southwest.
New Orleans FBI agent Alethea Duncan said during a press conference Wednesday that the FBI does not believe the main suspect in the attack, Shamsud Deen Jabbar, is “solely responsible” for the attack. The police warned that there could be danger in the city.
The FBI is currently working to determine the subject’s “potential connections and affiliations with terrorist organizations” after an ISIS flag was found in the truck. A weapon and a potential IED were located in the suspect’s vehicle, and other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter.
