In spite of BeyoncéLong-standing friendship with Destiny Children’s Joint Bands Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williamsrumors have always continued that she never wanted to be part of a women’s group – but her mother, Tina knowleshere to Set the record immediately.
In her new biography. MatriarchKnowles came back to the idea that her eldest daughter had always intended to pursue an individual career. “The people oftentimes say that the goal was always for Beyoncé to be individual, but if that were the case, he would have done so out of the gate,” wrote Knowles, 71, in the book, which hit shelves on Tuesday, April 22. “She loved a part of a group.”
Knowles also noted that Beyoncé, now 43, has “pushed back” the release date of her first solo album, Dangerous in loveso that “his sister Kelly could take full advantage of the momentum of her own success.” (Rowland, 44, and Williams, 45, both released their first solo albums in 2002, while Dangerous in love drop the following year.)
Beyoncé and Rowland had been part of Destiny’s Child since 1990, when he was called Girls Tyme. Meanwhile Williams joined the group in 2000 side by side Franklin Farrah Following a departure LUCKETT LUCKET and Latavia Roberson.

Frederick M. Brown/Getty ImagesAlthough Knowles did not detail the reason for Luckett and Roberson’s exit in her book, she pushed back against the idea that Beyoncé caused the split – or she was happy to see her go.
“Beyoncé considered it a 10 -year marriage, and began to mourn him,” wrote Knowles. “He caught rumors and negative stories, casting Beyoncé as the father’s daughter who made calls, and even people ran with a lie that Kelly was only staying because she was Matthew’s biological child of relationship. It was all incredibly damaging.”
Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, adds a writer to her list of titles. Tina went on to say “Beyoncé would hardly leave her room, cocked in her bed” after Roberson and Luckett left the band, while her father, Mathew Knowles“Seems paralyzed; his mind slowed down from ideas to stop.”

Franklin left the band after a few months and DC continued as a trio. From Franklin, Tina writes, “Unfortunately, she didn’t work out, and I always wish her the best on her journey.”
In 2002, Luckett and Roberson filed a legal case against Beyoncé, Rowland and Mathew, accusing them of breaching partnership and trusting duties. The case was settled later that year.

Last year, however, Luckett confirmed that there is no bad blood with Beyoncé or Rowland, sharing a picture that showed her reunite with the duo as well as Williams and Roberson.
“✨all Love✨ This hands down my favorite moment of 2023 ❤️,” Luckett’s headline of the Snap Instagram in January 2024, adding that she felt “love,” “joy” and “healing” in the reunion. “May we all experience lovely moments like this in 2024.”
