When the world learned about Pope Francis’ death on Monday morning, the Cardinal, who became long -term relations with the United States, became something to overcome the news.

After the announcement that the Pope “returned to his father’s house”, the Irish-American Cardinal Kevin Farral took one of his biggest roles: “CamenerLengo” or the man who runs the Vatican after the Pope’s death or resignation.

Pope Francis nominated Cardinal for a role in 2019. The Cardinal will remain in the position during the “apostles sitting in the van”, the period between the Pope’s death or the election of the next Pontiff.

It also plays an important role in perennial ceremonies to mourn Pope Francis.

Cardinal Kevin Farel and other Vatican officials announce the death of Pope Francis in a video from the Vatican on April 21.

Through years after he was called Camenerleng in 2023, Francis chose Farrell President of the Vatican Supreme Court. He was also appointed President of the Confidential Affairs Commission.

Like CamenerLEngo, Cardinal Farrela will be instructed to make a conclave agreement, the process through which the next pontiff is selected.

Technically, Camenerlengo can become the Pope as it happened twice in history: Gioacchino Pecci (Pope Lev XIII) in 1878 and Eugene Paceli (Pope Pius XII) in 1939.

The Cardinal will also preside over the certification of Francis’ death, putting his body in the coffin. After that, it is expected that the cardinal will lead a procession that moves the pope’s body from the chapel of Domas Santa -Tero to St. Peter’s basil.

The ceremony may take place as soon as Wednesday morning, the Vatican reports.
