Star Wars prequels always portrayed Yoda as different from politicians like palpatine … while the future emperor hatched plans from the shadows mostly, this Jedi warrior jumped into danger with nothing but light lights and some poor CGI. And it is easy to root for this little green guy because it is presented as quite a good fighting force against palpatine plans to take over the galaxy. However, the fact that Yoda lives for nearly a millennium and leads the Jedi for centuries as an American politician-Past-teir makes him just as palpatine in the destruction of the old Republic.
Despite what Cranky’s fanboys say, Star Wars has always been political: George Lucas in particular Palpatine emperor on Richard Nixon AM has used the Ewoks as symbols of the Viet Cong resistant America’s mighty war engine. Therefore, it is not that Crazy to compare our own ancient politicians with those in Star Wars and discover some similarities … for example, some American politicians have been in power far longer than 23 years palpatine. Now, some would say it’s not fair to compare Yoda with a politician, so here’s another hard truth: Jedi politicians were not only, but they were the most corrupt in a far away galaxy, far away. These are Galaxy Police with godly powers, representing billions of beings effectively as government ambassadors … and yet they have no real external supervision and, as The acolyte Show, ready to cover heinous crimes when someone is trying to investigate them. And presiding over all this disqualification for centuries was Yoda, who hid the existence of his decreased power abilities until it was too late for Jedi everywhere.
At Canon, Yoda has been a member of Jedi Council for over 350 years, meaning he has been given a leadership place in this elite group for more than all life from various galactic alien. On paper, that’s fine because it’s powerful and wise … the kind of leader who can offer sage advice and still kick a barrel with lights. But by the prequels, this is ancient alien Keeps a pretty terrible secret from everyone: that his ability to use the police has reduced along with everyone else. And this failure makes Yoda appear as an American dodering politician.
If you look beyond the janky plot of the prequels, Yoda is revealed as an aging de facto politician who has been in power for centuries and refuses to step down when you realize that he is losing control of the police … you know, the thing That makes it powerful and wise. It is entirely possible that a newer, younger leader might have identified this police problem and possibly even pulled that palpatine is Lord Sith. But as countless politicians in the real world before him, Yoda trees rejected his power, leading to a complete Jedi genocide that could have been easily suspended.
There is none of this to reduce the bad acts of palpatine or its evil interns, of course, but the point is that Yoda should have been able to sense this predatory politician’s intentions, especially After he knew that Lord Sith is hiding in a plain appearance. Apparently, Yoda in recent years would have been able to do so, but the master Jedi Prequel no longer had enough control over the police. If he had been prepared to step down or even work alongside some of a lot of young flows with new ideas (like Ahsoka), a 66 order could have been easily suspended.
At this point, Yoda’s lovers may scream on screen that it is better than American geriatrics politicians and has tried to do its best to prevent palpatine plan. But the little green guru had to learn his most famous lesson in the most painful way: make or don’t … there’s no offer.
