A nine -year -old boy, who was trapped between the stones on the beach of Novy South Wales on Sunday, became the seventh man who drowned in Australia on Easter weekend.
Most of the deaths were caused by the heavy swelling that washed people into the ocean of stones. Two people are missing.
Stephen Pierce, CEO of Surf Live Saving in New South Wales, where most of the dead occurred, said ABC that it was “worst”, which drowned in Easter’s records.
“The weekend it was just awful that it should be joyful and religious,” Pierce said in the Sydney Morning Bulletin.
The emergency teams were able to find the boy on the south -western rock, approximately 400 kilometers north of Sydney, but he died at the scene.
Earlier on Sunday, the helicopter noticed his father and son who sailed in the water near Vatamol, south of Sydney. The 14-year-old son was resuscitated, but his father was later declared dead.
Meanwhile, the police in Victoria continues to look for a 41-year-old man who went missing on Friday near San Remo.
Surf Live Saving New South Wales said he had spent more than 150 rescue since Friday.
D -Pierce said that the “perfect combination” of high temperatures, festive weekends and dangerous ocean swelling over much of the new South Wales, and Victoria caused death.
Despite the fact that the conditions are being established on Monday, the authorities called on those who visit the shoreline, be careful.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. “Please, be careful. In particular, families, be careful about your children,” he said.
According to Royal Life Saving Australia, 323 people drowned across the country by June 2024.
This figure includes those who died in rivers and streams as well as beaches. Almost 40% of the deaths were recorded in the new South Wales.
