One of the The most intimidating thing I ever did in my twenties was attend my first baby shower. I was still in college, and if there was one online registry of some kindNo one bothered to share it with me, so I went in completely blind trying to buy some random sorority kid. I went with a safe choice: a nice baby body soap and lotion set. Now, I wish I could go back in time and help the overwhelmed college. After having my own child and spending my work hours trying out all kinds of parenting gear, I’ve come to discover that there are a ton of fun gifts to give kids.
A member of WIRED’s Gear team has tested and vetted each of these gifts, which range from the newborn stage all the way up to the 1-year-old hood, so you can refer back to this guide to buy your favorite baby . – well it’s the first birthdays. Kids change a lot, and ridiculously fast, so I mentioned what ages or milestones I use as markers for some of these gifts. But don’t be afraid to give something early: it’s better to give something that will grow in the coming months rather than something that will grow tomorrow!
