The leaders of the four main federal parties of Canada were grilled about responding to US President Donald Trump and encountered energy and housing on the country’s first television discussion.
The French language marked the key moment in the elections, as it gave the executives the opportunity to release voters in the rich place of Quebec province.
It was also a great test for the liberal leader Mark Karnya, who is slightly leading in the election, but the French French is the weakest among federal leaders. Sometimes he struggled to formulate his points on stage.
On Thursday, the second discussion took place in English before the Canadians voted on April 28.
The stage included four main candidates for the party: the Liberal leader and the current Prime Minister Carney, Conservative leader Pierre Pulieu, leader of Bloc québécois ye-François Blanchet, as well as leader of the new Democratic Party (NDP), Jagmeet Singh.
The discussion was moderated by Radio-Canada journalist Patrice Roy.
Mr. Roy opened a forum in which the short 36-day federal elections in Canada were “captured by Trump” and asked each leader to outline two companies that promise not related to the US or its tariff.
But shortly afterwards, Mr. Roy plunged into the question of how every party costs a trade war with the United States, calling it “an elephant in the room.”
Trump has implemented 5% of Canada’s goods with the release of USMCA – the North American free trade transaction. Canada also suffered from global tariffs on the United States and aluminum and cars.
The president also publicly reflected that Canada became the 51st US state.
Puliver, conservatives of the opposition, accused the governing liberals of weakening the country over the last decade, which has made Canada more vulnerable to economic threats.
Karni has advertised his experience of the former Central banker for both Canada and the UK, as well as time in the private sector.
“(Trump) respects people who understand the world and how the private sector works,” Carney said.
Singh, with the left -wing NDP, sought to draw and Puiliiver, and Karni as a wrong option for Canadians whose work could be affected by the US tariffs.
“Both will reduce taxes for millionaires and billionaires,” he said.
For Karni, the French discussion was perhaps the first major test of the investigation.
The second discussion will take place on Thursday night with contenders who perform in English.
This forum will be more widely observed across the country, but the rates on Wednesday were high for Carney’s liberals leading to Quebec, where most French Canadians live.
His French were the weakest on the stage, and he often kept his answers short, and sometimes fought for getting his points in a discussion with a quick exchange.
He also encountered the most common attacks when other leaders tried to tie it to the liberal record of former Prime Minister Justin Trudu, who resigned last month.
“We are still talking about the same party, about the same coacus,” said the Blanchet of the Block.
He added: “It’s not that you change the leader that you change your philosophy.”
Karni expressed confrontation that he had achievements, despite the fact that he had swearing last month. He “just arrived,” he said.
There was a moment of frivolity when Mr. Roy asked the leaders if they buy fewer products in the US – like many Canadians standing in front of the tariffs – in the grocery store.
In an interview, Carney confessed in an interview earlier this month, which does not make his own products if he was asked if he buys a strawberry.
Singh and Blanchet said they bought Canadian berries. Carney said he had abandoned us wine, and Pulvers said he was buying Canadian beef.
Trump was not the only issue on the agenda. Leaders asked their plan to eliminate Canada’s housing crisis and how they would balance the climate and economy.
In the housing Poilievre promised to reduce taxes and red tapes, which, he said, act as a barrier for the home.
“We don’t need any more bureaucracy, we need more front doors,” said the Conservative leader in Jab, directed at Karni.
But they found a common language on energy, saying that the country should increase oil and gas production.
Karni said the climate remains a priority for his party, adding that he focused on oil production “low at risk”.
Immigration also had a wide agreement that Canada should consider its opportunities to integrate the asylum.
In recent years, Canada has seen a quick boom of the population, and social and housing infrastructure has fought for catching.
Recently, Canadian border officials noted that as a result of the tough immigration policy of the Trump administration as a result of the tough immigration policy of the Trump administration as a result of the tough immigration policy of the Trump administration, seeking to cross the border of Quebeca.
The lack of a discussion stage was the Green Party. At the last minute of the decision of the commission on debates, it was deprived of the criteria without approving candidates for at least 90% of Canada’s federal trips or constituencies.
The party, which had two MPs in the parliament when the elections were summoned, also failed to execute at least 4% in national support.
Green Party employee Jonathan Pedno called the decision of the commission “groundless” and “undemocratic”.
It was not the only change in the discussion.
On Tuesday, the start was officially moved forward for two hours to put the game in the NHL between the Montreal Canadians and the Carolina hurricane, with the place in the Stanley playoff.
