Netflix’s latest hit anime proves that video games adjustments are here to stay

The Super Mario Bros. Movie made over a billion dollars, Minecraft movie Is it already halfway there, but in terms of streaming, Netflix has corner the market on video games adjustments and with its latest hit, the company is not slowing down any time soon. After winning prizes with the The League of Legends Arcane Series, Revive Interest in Castlevaniaand turn a Tomb Anime into hit, Netflix has done so again with A devil can cry. The senior senior series has already been refurbished for a second season, which is particularly impressive, as the franchise has not had a new game since 2019.

No one watches a devil crying for the plot

This is the second time Devil May Cry has been adjusted as an animated series, following in the footsteps of 2007 animeand both show a focus on the time period established in Devil can cry 3 When the half -demon Dante works as a mercenary (or “private researcher,” but all his investigations tended to end with someone being stabbed). Both shows naturally weigh on highly stylized combat sequences, while the latest Netflix series ensures that they include back to the first series in the first chapter display against the demonic plasma inside an ice an eaterand even the pool balls of DMC 3’s An opening cut makes an appearance in the second chapter. The visual call backs are filled with goals to the franchise but as any fan of Dante knows, the most important part is nailing the perfect combination of humor, cocks, and stubbornness that caused the hunter demon in his first appearance.

Dante is effortless of cool and should be at the center of all the action in Devil May Cry’s adjustment, which the first two episodes completely nail, but then he begins to take a back seat to his own supporting cast. Which is a shame, due to the casting of Johnny Young Bosch (Spike of Bebop Cowboy and ironically, Nero, the Dante-Displement of the Last A devil can cry Games) inspired and taken on the character is the best we’ve seen in years. There are some Cringey jokes that don’t land, but on the whole, this is a great version of Dante that may not be exactly what fans wanted, but once the fighting starts and a devil trigger is activated, even the most jaded fans can’t help but enjoy themselves.

The story diverges wildly from the games

The most important parts of any Devil Cry adaptation are the fighting scenes and characterization of Dante, with the plot in a distant third in priority. The Netflix The series turns the game’s literature by making demons misunderstood (kind of) and the government’s paramilitary forces thrust into the role of the bad guys (kind of), which is the exact opposite of the games, where Dante Sparda’s father is to be the very rare demon of human lovers. The worst part is that while he does not respect the game’s literature in any way, the show’s plot is good, not great, but good, and every anime fan has suffered much worse in their time.

Darkcom, the government’s organization hunting demons, persecuted a demonic terrorist, a white rabbit, when they realize that Amulet Dante is the secret to finding the demon. This gives Mary Ann Arkham (or as Dante calls her, a “woman”) against Sparda’s son, but anyone who has played the games, or watched any anime, know that they, of course, work together. It’s a simple, basic blot with a few bends and turns, but it does the work, and is significantly better than a conspiracy Dmc 4 And the Dante tried to restart Capcom’s strange black hair.

Another anime struck to Netflix

I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the beginning, like any good fan, I’ve never played Devil can cry 2 past the second level, and I own multiple versions of Devil can cry 3And I really enjoyed the Netflix series. If anything, I would have preferred Dante a little dorkier, but at least the writing knows the crazy plot with a level of deadly severity that makes line readings like “I is that storm” so over the top you have to admire the severity of the studio. And at this point, Netflix’s video game adaptation is beyond reproach.

The Streamer is home to not only the award -winning Harcane and Castlevaniabut also Dota: Dragon Blood and the Dragon’s dogma A series, with even the worst of them standing head and shoulders above the video game adjustments we had to suffer in the 90s. Anyone else who remembers Captain n the gamemaster know how bad things used to be. A devil can cry has already been renewed for a second season, and there is a good chance we get that before Devil can cry 6.
