IPL 2025: CSK names the 17 -year -old Mumbai whipping Ruturaj Gaikwad’s replacement

In an important development ahead of its inverse part against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially named Ayush Mhatre as a replacement of Ruturaj Gaikwad for the rest of the IPL 2025 season.

Mumbai’s 17 -year battle prodigy will be linked to the squad before CSK party on April 20, as the franchise aims to turn its campaign after a disappointing start.

A growing star of the Indian domestic circuit, Ayush Mhatre, has made waves with its consistent actions between formats. The young batter of the right hand was recently part of a test session organized by Csk In Chennai, where he impressed the technical staff with his temperate time and temperament under pressure.

In his short and shocking domestic career, Mhatre has marked 504 runs in nine first class games, including two centuries and fifties. Its record of its list is even more noteworthy: 458 runs in seven games, with two tons, including a high score of 181 against Nagaland. Another prominent element of his season was a stellar 148 against Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazarer Trophy, emphasizing his ability to turn into great entrances.

In an interview with Indian Express, Mhatre shared information about his cricketing trip. “I started playing at six, but the serious cricket started when he was ten years old.” he said. “My grandfather, Laxmikant Naik, would accompany me daily to practice sessions in Matunga. Despite my family’s concerns about sleep and routine, they now see that these sacrifices are beginning to pay.”

Mhatre is a product of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, and has been relentlessly trained with the dream of carrying an IPL jersey, a dream that will now become a reality.

CSK looking for a comeback to IPL 2025

Currently, the five champions, CSK, are losing a hard season, placed at the bottom of the IPL 2025 standings with only two points out of six games. With Gaikwad not available to the rest of the tournament, Mhatre’s inclusion can be considered as a tactical and hopeful movement to inject fresh energy next to it.
