Man arrested after allegedly attacking arson at the governor’s house

The 38-year-old man was arrested and should be charged after allegedly attacking the official residence of Governor Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro, the authorities said.

The arrest took place a few hours after Shapiro, which is often advertised as a future White House contender, woke up in the middle of the night, so that the authorities knocked on the door of their home when the fire spreads.

At a press conference on Sunday, Shapiro said he was “clearly emotional”, reminded of what had happened. The Democrat and his family were able to evacuate intact, but their home in the capital of Sat Harisburg was badly damaged.

“I refuse to fall into the trap of slavery that someone tried to wear, strike at us as they did yesterday,” he told reporters.

A few hours before the fire, Shapiro and his family celebrated the first night of Easter, a Jewish holiday.

“When we were in the state dining room last night, we told about Easter,” he said, adding that the motives of the Balmer were not known.

Police Deputy Commissioner George Bivens said the suspect had home incendiary and was arrested in the Harisburg area.

Authorities believe that the suspect was able to jump the fence that surrounds the house and get inside to start the labor, which is still being investigated.

The state bodies said the flames – which extinguished – had done “a considerable amount of harm”.

The governor and his family were in another part of the brick house when a fire was installed, police explained.

The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire said it had worked to extinguish the flames and the police focused on the evacuation of Shapiro and his family.

Authorities offered a $ 10,000 award (7,600 pounds) for information that led to any arrest. It is unclear whether the hint was brought to the arrest of the Balmer, which remains in custody.

Shapiro and his wife Laurie have four children together: Sofia, Jonah, Max and Ruvin.

The governor was considered a possible partner for former Vice President Kamala Harris during the presidential ball last year. In the end, she chose former Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz.

The residence of Governor Pennsylvania in Harisburg is 29,000 square feet in the Georgian House in 1968, where eight governors lived.

Shapiro held the position of Governor Pennsylvania since 2023, working as a state prosecutor.
