By Frank Bay: Shakur Twitterson is boring, inside and outside the ring. Allow to start by saying that the relationship between professional and amateur sports is reciprocal. Sometimes athletes and owners/promoters forget this aspect. I don’t mind paying the events.
If this is the season of the NFL or a major boxing PPV, I will open my portfolio, even against my best judgment. Yes, I’m easily sucked but I’m not silly. I will see that Canelo Alvarez fights in five of Mayo, but I do not pay. No, I will not steal it. It is most likely to see it with friends and family, as it is a traditional boxing weekend.
When it comes to sports, I have my limits on what will hurt me. When I manage to spend the NFL season or go to a baseball game, I’m getting what I pay. The price does not matter, but I refuse to pay regularly a poor product. When the teams are poor, the owners do not reduce the prices to reflect the investment of the fans.
No, on the other hand, they increase the price to park. That is why the NFL and MLB teams, at least for the optics, the victory of stress. When a team wins, fans are ready to get a second mortgage for seasonal tickets. The fans are windy and they count on this group. But when it comes to the boxing and use of Shakur Stevenson as an example, it is painfully clear that the powers that are only one unidirectional relationship.
Boxing expects you to pay without giving -you want to. They give you the opposite (that is, Josh Padley vs. Stevenson) and they hope you want to pay even more the next event. This creates a misleading effect. The fighters expect the same.
Turki Alshikh is learning the difficult boxing path. At my podcast last year, I predicted that Turki would see that throwing cash as if in a striptease club would not be enough to control the boxing game.
The nuances and interests in boxing inside the boxing cannot be controlled or eradicated by a man with money who wants to govern with an iron fist. The boxers are more like actors than athletes because, like actors, boxers can choose and choose their roles, that is, their destinies. Contrary to belief, boxers do not choose fights only money.
At the time of social media, Mayweather’s time after money, fighters are much more fueled by perceptions. Just look at what happened to the old Mayweather clone, Devin Haney, hurt. Look at the only fighter so far not kissing the ring of his excellent, the formerly waterproof Davis Tank after an error. As they say, perception is reality.
Shakur, who was called Twitterson, faces a junction and would not be surprised that we see Shakur Stevenson sit for the predictable future. Before Stevenson left the first place, it was reported that it was upset that the maximum place refused to feed Lomachenko or Navarrete. The first range was in business.
When he left, Stevenson conveniently left the upper rank, would have served it with great loma and Navarrete, if he had signed with them again. Common sense would have told Twitterson that the first rank had to be able to replace a star like Loma with Shakur, as it is very likely that the old veteran would have beaten.
I am not sure of how Stevenson was deceived or delusional to think that the first rank would be signed to give Loma and Lomachenko’s belt, just to see him as if they were 7 months pregnant.
He advanced quickly, and Shakur signed with Hearn, who works closely with Turki. Hearn signed Shakur with agreements on his place. Hearn had Turki meet Shakur and they shake hands. Shakur was told what he expected of him. Shakur stated that he wanted great fights.
He was now in a position with people who could do it, or so we thought. In terms of taking care of what you want, Shakur Stevenson received his battle orders and has now gone to Awol. When the fighters discuss how the fighting business goes, the promoter offers fighters a list of potential opponents.
Then the fighter and his team are made to select from the options given. Each struggle involves a risk and reward option. The fighter must choose or be forced to sit. If a fighter rejects a struggle that is within contractual obligations, the promoter can cause the fighter to sit.
The contract works in both ways. A promoter must fulfill the obligation of, for example, to give his fighter 3 fights within a certain period. When there is a problem, the fighter has approximately two options. The options we have seen in the fighters of the note that Mikey Garcia and Andre Ward use on their heads.
A struggle to go legally, which can cost more money than it is worth, or sit and wait until the contract expires. Theophimo recently sought to get out of his contract with Harvard Grau and former lawyer Bob Arum.
The statement was that Teo did not owe one last fight. The first rank counteracted, claiming that Teo decided to reject a fight date and, therefore, were within his right to sit. Finally, they solved their problems, which is a way of working. If Turki did not come to save Teophimo, he would still sit on the sidelines.
Stevenson will suffer the same destination? I am willing to bet on him would not mind taking a sabbatical, especially if the WBC allows him to remove a Charlo sprout and leave the champion for years without struggle. Remember -you have Shakur Stevenson already launched a adjustment and retired in the midst of his dissatisfaction with the first place.
Turki never imagined that the leopard would eat his face. There is no year and Tyson Fury retires from him without fighting Anthony Joshua, Jaron Ennis rejects a major struggle, and now Stevenson tells him thanks, no thank you. Worse this, after being paid easily to sign with Hearn and that he was paid a lot of money from what he deserved to fight a part -time electrician with a short warning in a subcard, does not turn and bites the hand that feeds him and his promoter. A very looking action if you ask me.
I consider myself a bet man and I am ready to bet that the stage interpreted something like this: Turki told Shakur that he would pay it fairly. Shakur needed to start twisting the narrative leaving out of the important context. He claims that Turki returned to his word.
Shakur accused Turki of promising -a certain amount of money for William Zepeda’s struggle. But when he was offered, he was much lower than he was promised for the first time, and therefore fired. This seems reasonable and probably spend all the time in boxing. I mean, it is called negotiation for a reason.
But let me tell you something, with a wise word: when it comes to negotiations, and especially boxing negotiations, once they have gone viral, that is, someone is negotiating in public, on Twitter, no less, then it is over. It will not happen.
Everything Shakur is trying to do with social media negotiation is first so that he can twist and turn social narrative to turn it in his favor. Its only hope is to obtain enough support from non -encouragement to heal their fragile ego. The low social support you are currently receiving from your sycophants is enough to feed your narcissism. The rest we see this why it is: a massive duck
I guess Turki Ali said to Shakur: “Look, Shakur, I know that the money I am offering for Zepeda is less than originally planned, but it is because I have rewarded you with the discomfort of fighting a late replacement and paying you massively by Padley.
The numbers will show that I am more than generous in the new offer. “As you can see, Turki looked at the numbers and saw what someone could see on Twitterson, which is not worth it. His attitude and reaction to Turki’s generosity only demonstrate.
Turki, like me, is a fool, but he is nobody. From Turki’s point of view, he fulfills his promises and obligations with Shakur. He paid him for Padley against a better judgment, but he did it to make him happy, do a favor and keep him active.
Now, Turki, thinking that he will get the same reasonable reciprocal decision, it is left as if it were a side piece that Shakur can throw. Shakur seems to be intended to burn another bridge as if there are hundreds more in boxing.
What Turki offers is the same amount of money for both fights. He realizes that he paid for Padley’s struggle, so he wants to reduce the blow to the back. Is it less than just? I do not argue that, in fact, when as fans, we realize that Turki did a favor, paying -much more than what is worth first.
Fans have been wanting a Zepeda vs Shakur struggle for more than a year. While talking about boxing before, we only witnessed smoking. In Zepeda, at the same time, she was accused of being the duck, but I think it is sure to assume that she will no longer be blamed.
In a little comedy, I see that their sycophants try a turn of narrative mental gymnastics and I am finding a way to accuse Zepeda and Hoya of being the real ducks. One of the narrative turns is that it is to fight and it is “the bag”. Therefore, Shakur is not a duck and is a smart business man.
But where I see the hypocrisy that moves is that they are also the same fans as Bash Canelo Alvares and any other fighter who does the same. Alvarez is the largest public enemy to choose cautiously and take $ 100 million for William Scull.
However, you will hear tons of praise for Shakur doing the same without the same recognitions or the massive basis of fan. When Floyd Mayweather had reached his “bag” phase, he already had his recognition and the basis of fan.
In my opinion, this was a short-looking self-site movement. Canelo can turn anyone who wants because there is someone willing to pay it to do it. Shakur has no other figure like Turki in his later pocket that will rescue him and pay him to fight another scrub.
Shakur has cornered because I no longer see anyone willing to pay -great money. He will not be paid again for gentle touches and will not get the big names and money he demands because everyone sees that he has no choices.
Shakur and his team sucked in Turki and said Hearn, who must be between a rock and a hard place, scratching his head on what to do with him later. But while Turki can wash his hands with the ungrateful, Hearn is stuck with this albotross.
In the end, it is the fans who remain holding the bag. We allowed Shakur to get so far away without responsible. Many fans became clear with their narrative that everyone hooked it.
People accepted Padley’s struggle because Scholfeld who came out was not a fault and we were in Zepeda. But it seems that this is the last straw before even its firm fans no longer pay their fights.
