Home fans created a hostile atmosphere before the game, but the 45 minutes of opening did their best to quench it with either side capable of supporting any significant attacking threat.
Legia started well and a good block from Josh Acheamong prevented Rafał Augustyniak from firing in the goal.

The Chelsea ended the storm and could have advanced in the ninth minute just because Nkunku failed to turn the ball home with a later heel.

The Chelsea returned from the resulting corner: the Benoit Badiashile’s loop header from a corner of Malo Gusto chose Nkunku, but was denied by a good defense of Augustyniak.
Nkunku then turned the supplier with a cross that Dewsbury-Hall should have directed, but instead, his head blinked when the first half ended his place.
Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo were removed at halftime and replaced by Madueke and Levi Colwill and the impact was transformer.
Dewsbury-Hall missed another opportunity, but the young extreme George showed him how he should do, putting the ball home perfectly after Tobiasz Palmed shot the shot of Reece James directly on his way.
Tobiasz was also to blame for Chelsea’s second.

Nkunku was given the ball, but Tobiasz was easily clear.
