Laurence Fishburne One of the biggest actors is alive, but that doesn’t mean making films – even the most iconic in cinematic history – has ever been easy.
In the Apple TV+ documentary program Number one on the call sheetReleased March 28, Fishburne revealed that filming Apocalypse now At the age of 14 or 15 he was “very bad” for a big reason.
“There’s a scene in Apocalypse now That was cut from the original film, and then has been put back in the Redux, ”he explained in the documentary.“ I’m probably 14, 15, anyway, trying to make this scene, talking about, you know, really … sex. And I had no sexual experience. Like, no. “
“And (Director of the Film) Francis Coppola couldn’t find out how to get me to be more experienced than I am,” Fishburne continued. “But he continued to ask me to do it over and over again. I did something like 40 taking it. It was very bad. And I could say it was disappointed. So I felt really down. Really depressing.”
Fortunately, fellow star Martin Sheen went out on a member and offered to help the young actor.
“And I heard Martin (Sheen) whispering in my ear,” he explained. “He said, ‘Did anyone ever tell you that you are a very good actor?’ And I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘You’re a really good actor.’ That’s what being number 1 on the call sheet is about to save my life.
