Gosselaar Mark-Paul and Shanola Hampton very surprised by Base Fans rooted for Sir and Gabi’s romance – especially as they never tried to sell the controversial relationship as an option on the show.
During a unique interview with Weekly USGosselaar, 51, addressed the chemistry to scene between him and Hampton, 47, saying, “Well, it’s not something we’re ever working on, it happened only organically. It’s always that way.”
Gosselaar noted that he and Hampton “Just got lucky” like Costars. “Sometimes you don’t need to like the person in real life in order to get chemistry on screen. That’s not our case. We really enjoy each other’s company and I’m considering (Shanola) a very good friend. So that’s just bleeding through the lines that are all there,” he explained. “As you said, it is written this way. So when I say these lines, I have to understand Sir’s deep affection for Cabi – and his love for her.”
In spite of an emotional connection, Gosselaar explained “There is nothing sexual about it”Sir interest in Gabi.
“Just when she sees it, she illuminates it. He just wants a part and wants. She helps Shanola is a very good person and she’s a very elegant actor,” he continued. “But as actors, we should be able to get that chemistry with anyone. Maybe when you actually see us together off a set, (see) we enjoy each other a lot and maybe people confuse that with that (our characters on screen). It’s bleeding on the screen alone. But I think Shanola is a good enough actor that he could find that chemistry with almost anyone.”

Matt Miller/NBCBasewho first performed in 2023, following the public relations expert and emergency manager Gabi Mosely (Hampton) and her team of associates as they worked to find missing people who have been ignored or forgotten by law enforcement.
By Base Focuses primarily on the causes themselves, it also focuses Gabi and Sir relationship. The NBC series presented their dynamics with Gabi kidnapping Sir in the current timeline – as viewers learned from backlashes about how Sir kidnapped Gabi when he was a teenager.
“You could look at it in another way and go, ‘It’s really disgusting and disturbing how committed it is to this individual.’ He has two sides, ”he argued for the spiral intentions of his character. “That’s the challenge I think our writers have and I have every week when I get the dialogue is how to play it like it’s not one -sided. I think our show is very multilateral and that’s what makes it interesting.”
The fact that Gosselaar plays the role of Sir does not mean that he agrees with his actions. That’s why the actor is even more surprised to see the Fan “Team Sir” support on social media.
“I think it’s just a study of society – but I feel the same way. With Breaking Bad, I really loved Bryan Cranston’s portrait of his character. He was a real dark character and you found yourself rooted him and didn’t want him or anything bad to happen to him – though he was in contempt at times,” said Gosselaar Us. “Dexter too. When I did research for this character, I needed to have a reference. (Our Showrunner Carry oths) Ted Bundy. “
Gossselaar continued: “Until that point, I had known Ted Bundy but I didn’t know much about it. When I dive on it, I realized he was a very handsome man and could disarm his victims. Even when he was in court, he was a very smart person. He made friends in a strange way and was sure that I was sure to be sure for this character. Always hate it – but that’s not really fun. ”
