“Nevertheless, the initial investigation findings show that the incident is due to this contamination, with levels as high as 600 parts per million found – when the appropriate level in this case should be zero,” said Zúñiga.
The Gardners stayed at Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort Arenas when Miller died.
A spokesman for the hotel responded to the OIJ’s carbon monoxide reports in a Monday statement to Weekly US.
“We are respectfully and diligently co -operated with the judicial authorities of Costa Rican, which has assumed the corresponding investigation,” the statement continued. “We trust that the forensic process will be objective, clear and definitely explaining the true causes of this unfortunate event. For the time being, the investigation will continue with the analysis of the various theories submitted by the judicial authorities.”
The hotel representative added that Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort would “refrain from commenting on possible assumptions or unconfirmed cases” while the investigation into Miller’s death continued.
“Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees, and we are reaffirming our continued commitment to the highest standards in the operation of our facilities,” said the hotel. “We appreciate your understanding of the sensitivity of this situation.”
