Marine Le Pen found guilty of EU Funding Case

French maritime le Pen was found guilty of illegal European funds to finance its right -wing national party (RN).

The judge has not yet said that there would be a verdict.

Last year, prosecutors said that Le Pena’s punishment should be not only 300,000 euros (£ 250,000) and the prison sentence, but also the invalidity of the struggle for public positions for five years.

Most importantly, he said that failure to start at once – and not to be suspended before the appeal, which is expected to fall when he is found guilty.

This will ruin her hopes to run for the president in 2027.

Judges may also decide not to introduce automatic failure to comply with her condemnation, which would allow her to stand freely in 2027 during the appeal processes.

The court can also give her a shorter term of automatic unresolved – say one year – allowing her to work.

Le Pena was accused, as well as more than 20 other party figures, in the reception of assistants who worked on party affairs in the pH, not at the European Parliament they paid.

During the trial last year, Le Pen denied that she had committed a “least violation”.

It is expected that the reading of the sentence, which started shortly after 10:00 (09:00 BST), will take up to two hours.
