The veteran workshop Rohit Sharma said he is still committed to guiding the Mumbai Indians (MI) in his sixth IPL title despite not being the captain of the team. The 37 -year -old young man, who was removed from the captaincy by last season, stated that his main goal is to help the team achieve victory at IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians could not get an IPL title from 2008 to 2012. However, they appeared as a most successful team between 2013 and 2020. They won five championships in seven seasons, claiming the trophy every alternative year. This was dominant, can be accredited to Rohit Sharma’s leadership.
Rohit Sharma took over Ricky Ponting’s captaincy in the middle of the 2013 season. He guided the team to his first trophy in his debut season as a patron. Mi became the team to overcome, despite their struggles consisting of seasonal openings. Above all, they have not won their first game in the last 13 seasons.
The franchise has played a crucial role in the conformation of Cricket Supestrys such as Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. Its strong Scouting system has been a key factor behind its success. Another important aspect of the Mumbai team is the relaxed and supportive environment.
Rohit Sharma was replaced by Hardik Pandya captain ahead of the IPL 2024. The decision caused outrage among fans and me was bad that season.
In an interview with the Mumbai Indians, Rohit opened the changes within the team over the years. He said that his mentality remained unchanged, adding that the attitude is never part of the franchise.
“Many things have changed, obviously, because I used to beat the average order, now I am opening the battle. I was captain then, now I am not the captain. Now there were a few teammates I played with and I won championships, but they are not there. There is the role of coach. So the papers have changed, many things have changed, but the mentality has not changed,” said Rohit.
“What I want to do for this team has not changed, that is to get out of there and win games. It wins trophies, it is known to me. All these years, we have gone and won trophies, we win games in a situation that no one ever believed. So this is me, and this is what Mumbai is known.”
Five times champions Mi suffered a four wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at its opening IPL 2025. Mi managed to publish 155 runs and Rohit Sharma had a disappointing exit, and was fired for a four -ball duck.
He did not take the pitch in the second post, as he was replaced under the impact player’s rule with the Vigsh Puthur debutant. The spinner of the left arm wrist impressed with figures of 3 by 32. Mi lost the first game for the 13th consecutive year.
Hardik Pandya and his team will take Gujarat Titans on Saturday at the Narendra Stadium Modi of Ahmedabad.
