“It doesn’t make sense. It still doesn’t make sense to my brain,” Garth said of Perry and Doherty’s deaths. “I live in a world where they are still alive in my mind, so it’s very difficult to understand that they’re not here physically.”
Garth Kelly Taylor played on the popular Fox Teen play, broadcast between 1990 and 2000, for all 10 seasons. Doherty Brenda Walsh played for the first four seasons, while Perry played the bad boy Dylan McKay of seasons 1 to 6 and again in the show’s 9 and 10 seasons.

He added, “It’s hard to believe that other people understand that connection.”
Garth explained that the death of Doherty had raised many of those same feelings. “It’s crazy that we could be shocked knowing she was ill and knew how hard she was fighting, but he still felt shocking,” he admitted.
Before her death in July 2024, Shannen Doherty made her own name in film and television. In spite of the heart to lose another friend within their 90210 Family, Garth said she had “so much strength” of “growing up” alongside Doherty.
“I learned a lot, you know, about how to stand for myself, how to fight for things I believed in,” said Garth about her late friend. “I also saw that she said what she needed to say, and I thought, ‘I want to be that way. I want to be a person who uses my voice and says what I need to say.’ So she inspired me. ”
