Former Brazilian President Bolsonar made a court on charges of coup

Former Brazilian President Jiri Balsanar will call the court for allegedly trying to coup against the current president Luis Inazio Loul to Silva after the ruling of the Supreme Court.

The Pentecut Board of the Supreme Court unanimously voted for the trial.

The 70 -year -old Balsanar denies attempts to block Lula’s inauguration and says he is a victim of “political persecution” aimed at preventing him from running for president in 2026.

The court can go forward this year. If he is found guilty, Bolsonar may face the years of imprisonment.

The panel was set to determine whether there was enough evidence to put in court on Bolsonar.

The first to cast his vote on Wednesday was the judge headed by the college, Alexander De Moras.

He recommended Bolsonar, as well as seven other former state officials described by the Prosecutor General as “co -authors”, made a trial on the events that led to the storming of state buildings to his supporters on January 8, 2023, a week after Lula’s inauguration.

Seven people accused of co -authors are:

• Alexander Ramgem, former spy chief
• Adm Almir Garnier Santos, former Navy commander
• Anderson Torres, former Security Minister
• General August Helena, former Minister of Institutional Security
• Mauro Sid, former Assistant Bolsonar
• General Walter Brag Neta, former Defense Minister
• General Paul Sergio Noguera de Olileeira Former Minister Defenders

Bolsonar, former army captain and supporter of US President Donald Trump, has ruled Brazil from January 2019 to December 2022.

In October 2022, he narrowly lost the presidential electoral departure with the left rival Lula.

Bolsonar never recognized his defeat. Many of his supporters spent weeks that were organized outside the army barracks, trying to convince the military to prevent Lula’s oath as planned on January 1, 2023.

A week after Lula’s inauguration, on January 8, 2023, thousands of Bolsonar supporters pushed government buildings in the capital, Brazil, in the fact that federal investigators say it was a coup attempt.

The parts of the buildings were defeated and the police detained 1500 people.

At the time, Balsanar was in the US and always denied the riots.

A federal police investigation and events leading to them were launched.

Investigators said they had found evidence that there was a “criminal organization” that “acted in coordinated manner” to preserve the then President Bolsonar in power.

Their report on the 884 pages, which was unintentional in November 2024, claimed that “then President Jir Messiac Bolsonar planned, acted and directly and effectively realized the actions of the criminal coup and eliminated the democratic rule.”

Brazil’s Prosecutor General Pavel Gennet went even further in his report published last month, in which he accused Bolsonar of not just aware, but also in the criminal organization, which he said, sought to draw Lulu.

According to the Gonet report, the plot allegedly included the Lula poisoning plan and shoot at the dead Alexander de Moras, the Justice of the Supreme Court, headed by the college, which decided that the case should go to the trial.

Bolsonar has always denied allegations that, he said, politically motivated and intended to stop him again running for the president.

While he was already forbidden to run for public positions by 2030 for falsely claiming that the Brazil’s voting system was vulnerable to fraud, he stated his intention to fight this ban so that he could pass for a second term in 2026.

However, the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday put a very high obstacle on the way to a possible candidacy.
