According to his family, George Forman legend died at the age of 76.
The foreman, known as the great George in the ring, has competed for decades since the 1960s, winning gold at the Olympics and numerous title belts, including the world title in a super -weight twice.
He lost his first title Muhammad Ali in their famous sound in the fight against the jungle in 1974. But his professional career boasted 68 stuff, almost twice as much as Ali. He lost five fights for his career.
The foreman won his first heavyweight World Cup in 1973, and then did it again in 1994 when he was 45 years old. He retired from sports in 1997.
His family said in an Instagram message on Friday night, “Our hearts are broken.
“A devoted preacher, a devoted husband, loving his father and proudly grand great -grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility and purpose.”
The statement added: “Humanitarian, Olympian and two -time heavyweight world champion, he was deeply respected – the force of good, a person of discipline, a condemnation and a defender of his heritage, who fought tirelessly for preserving his good name – for his family,” the family said.
While he was a home name in his sports career, Forman also became famous for his iconic George Forman Gryl, who had acquired the decades after he entered the market in 1994.
The foreman has a dozen children. Five his sons are named George.
On his site, he explained that he called them after him so that they “are always in common.”
“I say to them,” If one of us goes up, then we all rise together, “he explained.” And when one goes down, we all go down together! “
