David Benavidez rejects the interim struggle of Callum Smith, demands the title WBC

David Benavidez says he “definitely” passed the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beeterbiev trilogy match. Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) is the Mandatory WBC for the indisputable belt with lightweight heavy weight bivol (24-1, 12 kos).

Smith Offer Refused

Benavidez promoter Sampson Lewkowicz says an offer for Benavidez was made to defend his heavy heavy wbc weight title Callum Smith. Lewkowicz says he is not interested in this struggle and just wants Benavidez to fight for the WBC belt against Bivol next to it. The WBC has ordered the fight with a term of April 8.

Lewkowicz and Benavidez will not assume a temporary struggle to allow Bivol to keep it artificially in their WBC so that they can enter their trilogy match against Artur Beterbiev as an indisputable slight weight champion. Bivol has to fight Benavidez or give up WBC belt.

“At this moment, the only thing he is (Benavidez) is to think that the WBC is the regular formal champion,” Lewkowicz said to Sean Zittel About the “Mexican monster” who only wants to challenge the WBC belt.

“Therefore, we will not take this particular struggle (Callum Smith) for the Entreim as an interim WBC in 168 and never had the opportunity to challenge Canelo. He was ignored.

Bivol-Benavidez’s struggle has already been ordered by the Boxing Council World Cup. Bivol may need to leave the belt if he will go with his plans to face Artur (21-1, 20 kos) then in a trilogy.
