For the last Four years in the United Nations, The international community witnessed a disturbing tendency of closer cooperation between Russia and China, which poses a significant threat to a “order based on the rules”, the United States helped develop back in 1945.
This enhancement and updated level of cooperation is an unprecedented dilemma for the US and like -minded people: how to maintain the existing order, warts and all when the two UN Security Council members are now working to disrupt it.
Many of the UN observers, China And Russia has come to the general conclusion that the UN became a tool of Washington and its allies to use regularly to destabilize their regimes and reducing their global influence. Thus, the United Nations became a critical battlefield in the modern competition of “Great Power”.
For two -line years, like the US Ambassador, which is responsible for the UN Security Council, I saw firsthand in the UN, as these two authoritarian powers have repeatedly and vigorously spread falsehood that claim:

- That the US is using one -sided sanctions to impose its will on the rest of the world;
- And that the international financial system under the leadership of the Western led continues to obey the world bearers.
Distributing these false story lines Russia and China hope to convince Nations developing that the UN and the related mechanisms do not present their views and values, and that the basic major overhaul of the multilateral system is needed.
It’s not as if there were no warning signs. Since the unverified Russian war, aggression against Ukraine in the early 2022-and reliable international condemnation-Moscow has been determined to dispose of the current order, even by walking so far as to say that there is no such thing as an order based on the rules.
It severely violates the UN General Assembly resolutions in Ukraine, refusing repeated calls to the UN member states to withdraw its troops from the country. While this type of threatening Russian behavior is not new when viewed in the context of its “without restrictions on partnership” with China developing authoritarian superpowers, the world must seriously report.
Since 2016, Beijing has been conducted by a tireless reworking campaign in its own authoritarian image. He worked diligently to insert the language of the UN language that promotes its own internal ideological and political priorities, such as belts and roads and global security initiatives.

Playing a long game, China, like Russia, also seeks to devalue the importance of human rights, free people and the role of civil society in the UN, which writes great, quietly withdrawing to international standards and norms that the US and the vast majority of the UN member countries want to preserve. Instead of leaving UNCO and WHO institutions, the new administration must double the interaction in these bodies, so as not to dominate China from dominant critical areas, such as AI and the answers to future pandemics.
At the meetings of the Security Council and the closed doors, I had a lot of verbal contractions with Russian and Chinese diplomats to firmly dispute their propaganda and false stories that, when repeated quite often, begin to resume with states that are not familiar with history and facts.
To preserve the world south, Russia and China, usually indicate the growth of economic inequality, the war in gas, allegedly unfair restrictions on leading technology, and what they claim is the instability of democratic substances as proof of the order based on the rules, and that the authoritarian model is a wave of future.
Although most countries of the World South do not subscribe to these views, it would be wrong to say that the support of this line is not increasing. It should be a priority. If we do not consistently push the US narrative, our opponents will fill the void and determine this story by ways that damage our global position and interests.

Over the past 79 years, the United States has invested their creation and a wider international system. We will not spend this huge investment. Let’s make the UN suitable as intended, make sure that it continues to comply with the basic principles of its charter – by protecting human rights, saving future generations from war, promoting a fairer world. We need to work with like -minded people, organizations and peoples to help it survive and flourish, which will undoubtedly be an intense era of strategic competition.
