With Paraguay in close persecution, El Selecao will be eager to strengthen their qualification prospects, as the first six teams now win automatic dockets.
With only 18 points out of 36 available, the Brazil campaign has been bewildering. Despite the crucial victories of Peru and Chile in October, their failure to overcome Venezuela and Uruguay a month later left them in a precarious situation.
Dorival Junior remains at the helm, although doubts persist on whether he will still be responsible when the World Cup starts, given the Brazilian struggles to classify and his disappointing America Cup campaign last year.
With a warm meeting against Argentina next week, getting a victory would relieve a little pressure before heading to Buenos Aires.
