Eddie Howe will be awarded for Newcastle’s freedom after Carabao Cup victory

Newcastle United Manager, Eddie Howe, will be awarded the city’s freedom after the historic victory of the Club Carabao Cup on Liverpool.

Howe brought the Magpies to a 2-1 Sunday victory, reaching their first major trophy since 1969.

In recognition of this achievement, you will receive the highest civic honor that Newcastle can grant: a previously awarded recognition to club legends such as Sir Bobby Robson, Alan Shearer and Jackie Milburn.

The announcement comes as another local hero, the defender Dan Burn, has been named for the freedom of Northumberland.

The Blyth -born player played a key role in the final, scoring Newcastle’s initial goal in Wembley: the first club in the stadium in 25 years.

Karen Kilgour, Newcastle City Council, was delighted to designate Howe for honor.

“Generations of supporters have never seen their beloved club lifting a domestic trophy, and under their leadership, we all now have memories treasured of a really unforgettable day,” he said.

The HOWE Award is expected to take place at a full board meeting at the end of this year.

In the meantime, the leader of the Northumberland County Council, Glen Sanderson, praised Burn’s contribution and confirmed the plans to designate him for Northumberland’s freedom.

“It’s a great victory for the region and the fact that a local Blyth boy played such a crucial part of the trip is wonderful,” he said.

In addition to these honors, Northumberland National Park has paid tribute to burning in a unique way: to temporarily change the name to Elsdon Burn Walk as “Big Dan Burn Walk”.

“Northumberland National Park is a place as large and expansive as Dan himself,” they added, referring to the decrease in 6in’s 6 -feet defender.

The victory of the Carabao Cup of the Club will be marked with a parade of buses open throughout the city. Newcastle United has urged fans to “save the date” for March 29, after the international pause, when players and staff will show their long -awaited silver work.
