Polyfamily TLC: Get to know the couples

TLC’s new show Polyfamily explores the complexities of closed polyamorous quad relationship.

PolyfamilyWill be released on Tuesday, April 29, following two married couples, Mood and Pour. Sea and Tayawho have all chosen to live together as a closed quad. Although married, Tyler also dates Sean’s wife, Taya, while Sean dates Tyler’s wife, Alysia.

“Only dating within ourselves and married in ourselves,” Sean explained in US Weekly’s A unique clip of the trailer. “We have no external partners.”

Alysia noted that they never “went about living their lives like this,” but eventually worked out.

“We realized that we could love more than one person and make our own rules about what we want our family to look,” he shared.

Before becoming a combined unit, Alysia and Tyler were already parents of a son and daughter. However, after coming together with Sean and Taya, the four adults have welcomed two other sons with one other baby on the way.

“Since the men changed rooms every night, we do not know who the younger boys’ fathers are,” shared Taya in the aftermath, with Tyler noting that they do not want to find out who the biological fathers are because it could “cause a lot of hurt.”

Sean and Taya

Sean and Taya were married for six years before entering the quad.

Taya admitted they faced “push back” from their family and friends after telling them about their polyamorous relationship with Tyler and Alysia.

“It’s true that it wasn’t always easy – it took me a little time to admit that I have feelings towards someone else – and we definitely get jealous sometimes,” he told Today In January 2023. “But now it’s so natural for us all and I feel so grateful to have several partners to raise children with them. Why wouldn’t you want more love and support and more hands around? It’s a messy, busy, crazy, wonderful life and I can’t think of anything else we could ever want. “

After 11 years together, Tyler and Alysia chose to enter a closed denomination with Sean and Taya. The couple were already parents with a son and daughter before meeting the other couple.

“Our children already knew we were dating Sean and Taya,” said Tyler Today In a January 2023 interview. “We told them, ‘You know, Mum has a girlfriend and a dad had a girlfriend and we’re going to move in together, and we’re all going to be a big family and they’re going to help your parent, so we’re going to need to treat them like you treat us – as parents.”

Although she is happy with her life, Alysia admits that she sometimes becomes “jealous” over Taya and Tyler romance because “it almost looks like they are more in love than him and I.”

Alysia and Sean began dating each other in the quad.

“We didn’t even know what polyamory was, until we started to get feelings for each other,” Alysia admitted Today in January 2023.
