In a meaningful movement ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Delhi capitals (DC) have announced the appointment of Axar Patel As a new captain. The Tot of 31, which has been with the franchise since 2019, has assumed the leadership role after the departure of Ris Hebh Pant to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Patel, known for his versatility as a left -handed batter and left arm bowl, has played a crucial role in the program of the capitals over the years. In its 82 games for DC, it has scored 967 runs and collected 62 doctors at an impressive rate of 7.09. Its appointment marks a new chapter for the franchise, which seeks its first IPL title.
Patel’s leadership experience includes captaining his state team, Gujarat, in 23 games between formats, and has also led the capitals in an IPL game previously. In addition, he was appointed Vice-Capità T20i of India earlier this year, further highlighting its growing leadership credentials.
Speaking of his new role, Patel expressed his thanks and confidence in the team’s leadership. “It is my absolute honor captain of Delhi’s capitals, and I am deeply grateful to our owners and the support staff for having done their faith in me,” Said in an official statement. “I have grown as a cricket and human being during my time here in the capitals, and I feel ready and confident to drive this side.”
The capitals have gathered a balanced workforce after the mega auction, which Axar thinks has enormous potential. The team will have the support of a strong leadership group, including experienced players and a new technical staff that includes Hememang dani As a main coach and Matthew Mott As an assistant coach.
The capitals begin their IPL 2025 campaign against LSG on March 24 to Dr. Ys Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium by Visakhapatnam. With Axar at the helm, the team aims to bounce from a disappointing previous season and make a strong push for the title.
