Aston Villa produced an exhibition of the second half to relieve the Brugge Club with a 3-0 victory at Villa Park, sealing its place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League 6-1 in total.
A fixed by the substitute Marco Asensio and a goal of Ian Maatsen said that the Uni Emery side advanced easily, despite a slow performance of the first half.
Despite its 3-1 deficit from the first stage, the Brugge Club began brilliantly, controlling possession and putting the town under early pressure.
Hans Vanaken approached a header, while Chemsdine Talbi forced Emiliano Martinez to routine savings.
The Belgian champions seemed confident, but their task became significantly more difficult in the 16th minute when Kyriani Sabbe on the right showed a straight red card to retire to Marcus Rashford when he went out on the goal.
Even with a man’s advantage, Villa struggled to impose. His best opportunity for the first half came when the free lack of Youri Tielemans was hit by Simon Mignolet.
Brugge, despite being ten men, dominated possession and teams entered the rest level.

Emery responded with the attacking changes in the half, introducing Marco Asensio and Leon Bailey, and the impact was almost immediate.
Five minutes from the restart, Villa broke the deadline. John McGinn extended the ball to Bailey, who was set to Asensio, and Espanyol shot the ball on the roof of the network to get 4-1 in total.
Villa doubled the advantage only seven minutes later. Rashford and Morgan Rogers combined to feed Ian Maatsen, the end of his nearby range pulled a detour to Brandon Mechelele and stood at the back of the net.
It was the first goal of the Dutch club for the club and ended with any hope of Brugge’s comeback.
Asensio continued his dream impact on the bench, grabbing his second at night in the 61st minute. Rashford ran the left flank before cutting off Real Madrid’s proposed, which came out at his house his seventh goal in eight games for Villa.
At 3-0 at night and 6-1 as a whole, Villa was firmly in cruise control.
Villa almost added a quarter when Axel Disasi went closely, while Rashford and Jacob Ramsey tried Mignolet late.
Brugge, visibly deflated, met little in response, and his brave efforts in the competition ended when Villa saw the final minutes comfortably.
