Amensisa IFA / BBCThousands of people gather in southern Ethiopia for one of the country’s largest cultural events.
The weekly year’s ceremony, which ended on Sunday, sees the official transfer of power from one customer to its successor – what is happening every eight years.
The traditional regular purpose of the new Abbas has been practiced by the Boran community for centuries – and see how they gather in the countryside of the Horde Jill Prize, near the Ethiopian city of Arena.
It’s time to celebrate their special form of democracy, as well as their cultural heritage, and every age group enjoys the opportunity to wear different traditional outfits.
They are performed by the parade the day before the official transfer during the procession when married women march with wooden batons called “Siinqee”.

If the Siinqee stick stands on the land of a married woman between the two quarrels, it means that the conflict must stop immediately.
In the procession, younger women lead in front, different from married women in different colors of clothing.

But their important role can be seen during the festival, as they build all the housing for those who remain for a week – and prepares all the food.

The smaller the circle, the older it is.
Amensisa IFA / BBCAccording to the UNESCO Global Cultural AuthorityOral historians teach young initiatives about “history, laws, rituals, calculation of time, cosmology, myths, rules of conduct and the function of the Gada system.”
Workout for boys begins at the age of eight.
Later, they will be evaluated in potential as future leaders.

The main outfits made of shells are traditionally worn by young trainees. The only other people allowed them to wear are elderly women.
Both groups honor Boran community members.

Their visit to the Gada ceremony is an opportunity to study, prepare and encounter, because it is already known who ABBAA Gadaa will take power from this age group in 2033.
Amensisa IFA / BBCThe main event at the recent ceremony was the transfer of power: from the 48-year-old OAA GAA to the younger successor.
Friendly crossed the border from Kenya and others traveled from the capital of Ethiopia Addis Ababa to witness the spectacle. The governor of the Marsabith of Kenya was one of the guests of honor.
Thirty -seven -year -old Goyo Baro Gayao, who saw the spear here, was chosen for conducting because he impressed the council of the elders in adolescence years.
