India Captain Rohit Sharma praised his teammate Shreyas Iyer after India defeated New Zealand in the 2025 Championship Trophy in Dubai. Rohit tagged Iyer as “silent hero” and greeted his contributions throughout the tournament.
The comment was viral and Shreyas Iyer has decided to respond to Rohit Sharma’s comment. Iyer claimed that he does not come in silence and likes to play with the whole heart. He spoke of his strong mentality that allows him to perform on the great stage.
Iyer was under pressure in this tournament, as he had lost his place in the India test and on the sides of T20I. With no. Limited. From the hatred, Iyer’s place to the national team was under scrutiny, as it is not part of BCCI central contracts.

During an interview with Toi, Shreyas Iyer responded to Rohit Sharma’s “Hero Hero Hero” comment. The 30 -year -old baptism spoke of his mentality that helps him to act in various situations. He also talked about his failures who have helped him grow as a player.
“I don’t come calm (laughs). I come with my full heart and there is something else that happens to me.
“This mentality works for me and this confidence occurs after dealing with rejection and failures. They are the best teachers. You also know in difficult times, you can only get up. No one else,” he added.
Iyer also spoke about getting respect while playing in the country. He is satisfied with the way he beat throughout the tournament where the launches were not easy to beat.
“When I’m talking about recognition, it’s about getting this respect. It’s about respecting the efforts I made on the pitch. I think it sometimes goes unnoticed, but extremely satisfied with the efforts I made because they were not easy to beat,” said Iyer.
After India’s victory in the final, Rohit Sharma attended the press conference where he greeted Shreyas Iyer for a great tournament with the bat. He mentioned about the importance of Iyer in the middle ends and praised the way he passed his entrances.
“In order not to forget the silent hero Shreyas Iyer throughout the tournament was brilliant. It was very important in this average phase for us,” Rohit told journalists.
“He sewed his collaborations with all the baptmen who are baptizing with him that semifinal against Australia, with him and with a shot (Kohli) at that time was very, very important,” he added.
