The best diplomat of America said he sees the promise in Ukraine’s proposal to stop the fire with Russia, ahead of the negotiations in Saudi Arabia between us and Ukrainian officials.
“I am not saying that it is enough, but this is the concession you should see to end the conflict,” said US Secretary of State Mark Rubio on Monday.
Kyiv is expected to offer aerial and military truce with Russia during talks on Tuesday, said the Ukrainian AFP official.
Russia has previously rejected the idea of a temporary ceasefire, saying it was an attempt to buy time and preventing the military collapse of Ukraine.
President of Ukrainian Valodimir Zelensky landed on Saudi Arabia on Monday to meet with Prince Crown Mohammed Ben Salman, though it is expected to play an official role in the negotiations between his country and the US.
The Ukrainian team will be presented by the head of the Zelensky office Andri Irmak, the national security advisor and a number of foreign ministers.
Rubio will submit a US delegation together with national security advisor Mike Wols and Messenger in the Middle East Steve Witco.
Prior to his arrival in Judu, Rubio said it was important to “create Ukraine’s intentions” for a peaceful deal, and that the country should be prepared to do difficult things as Russians will have to do difficult things to finish it. “
“I’m not going to set any conditions for what they need or need to do,” he added. “We want to listen to find out how far they are ready to go, and compare it with what the Russians want, and then see how far we are.”
He said that both parties needed to realize that there is no military decision to the conflict, and this can only be resolved through “diplomatic means”.
This happens when Donald Trump is pressure on Zelensky to agree to ceasefire with Moscow, without promises of US safety guarantees.
Negotiations note the first official meeting after Zelensky’s visit to the White House last month.
After the US meeting, they stopped a full -fledged military assistance and intelligence for Kyiv, a clear application to get to Zelensky to the negotiating table.
Rubio said he hoped that the pause could be “resolved”, but talks on Tuesday will be key for that. “
The suspension “arose because we thought that they (Ukraine) were not obliged to have any peace process,” he said, and “if it changes, obviously our posture may change.”
“The President will use any tools he has at his disposal to try to get to both sides to make this war over,” he added.
Earlier on Monday, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witcoof said he was expecting a “significant progress” during the talks.
Asked if he thought Zelensky would return to the US to sign a deal with minerals later a week, he said Fox News: “I very much hope. All the signs are very, very positive.”
Earlier, Zelensky said he was ready to sign minerals from the United States, which would create a joint fund from the sale of Ukrainian minerals.
Vitkoff said there were protocols for Ukrainians and territorial issues among the issues that would be discussed in Saudi Arabia.
He said that the US administration had never ruled out intelligence than -no defensive thing, and on Sunday, Trump told Fox News that he “almost” raised a reconnaissance pause to Ukraine.
UK Prime Minister Sir Kire St.
“The Prime Minister said he hoped that there would be a positive result for negotiations that will restart help and intelligence,” the spokesman said.
In February 2022, Russia launched a full -scale invasion of Ukraine and currently occupies a fifth of Ukraine, including Crimea, which it joined in 2014.
