The US Secret Service shot a man outside the White House on Sunday after an “armed confrontation”, the service said.
He had previously received a “suicidal person who may go to Washington with Indiana from the local police,” the report said.
His officers approached the person who corresponded to this description, “who broke the firearm”, adding that the shots were fired. Now the man is in the hospital in an “unknown” condition.
President Donald Trump was not in the White House at the time, as he spent the weekend at Florida’s residence, Mar-a-lago.
“When the officers approached, the man smashed a firearm and armed with an armed confrontation during which our employees were released,” the statement said.
The incident is now under the investigation of Washington police, which investigates all the shooting of law enforcement agencies in the Colombia district.
