South African Trump line: Pretoria rejects “megaphone diplomacy”

The South African government said it would not participate in the “counterproductive megaphone diplomacy” after the fresh position of US President Donald Trump, repeating the statement that Pretoria had confiscated the land.

Trump has expanded his invitation to postpone those who seek to “escape (South Africa) for security reasons” to all farmers and offered them citizenship.

Earlier, South Africa stated that Trump misunderstood the new law on the country.

But this has already led to the US president freezing financial assistance to the country.

Responding to the latest statement, the government stated that South Africa still seeks to create mutually beneficial trade, political and diplomatic relations with the Trump administration.

The press -secretary added that relations between both countries should be based on mutual respect.

The new South African Earth Law was signed in January and allowed seizures without compensation under certain circumstances.

In his executive order last month, which stopped assistance in South Africa, Trump claimed that there was a discrimination against a white African minority, descendants of Dutch and French settlers.
